Scale Inhibitors
The Problem:
Many types of brine are supersaturated but stable when they reside within their natural formation. However, the brines become destabilized when they enter the wellbore, leading to the formation of mineral deposits, or scale. The most common scales found in crude oil include calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate and barium sulfate. The scale will deposit inside equipment and tubulars, and may result in plugging problems that can derail the drilling process.
The Verdant Energy Solution:
It is possible to prevent the precipitation and subsequent deposition of mineral scales from produced brines by continuously injecting a product based on a Verdant Energy Solutions scale inhibitor intermediate into the annular space. In some instances, a formation squeeze with the scale inhibitor may be more appropriate. Existing scale deposits can also be removed based on a proper cleanup procedure recommended for the severity of the mineral deposit.
